Incorporated into a borough on March 20, 1901, by the state legislature to replace the defunct Manchester Township. North Haledon is located in Passaic County. The borough oversees 3.53 square miles and borders the municipalities of Haledon, Hawthorne, Prospect Park and Wayne.

North Haledon does not have any major interstates or state highways running directly through the town, but i is served by county routes such as County Route 677 a.k.a High Mountain Road
